The season of Lent is upon us. This is the time of year in when the days begin to lengthen
with the coming of spring. During
Lent, Christians used to fast (give up food) but now a days people try to give
up something they really could do without; like chocolate or time spent on
their video games. Lent is the
time when we think about how we can be better; better Christians, better
students and better to each other.
March is the month when we will be celebrating all of our
artistic endeavors at St. Gabriel.
Many different fine art events will be happening so please come into the
school often to see what your children are doing and to view the many different
examples of student art that will be displayed during the week of Parent
Teacher Interviews (March 22-26) and our biannual Book Fair.
Report cards will be going home with our students on March
19th. An important
change has occurred in our Grade 4-6 report cards this year. Marks are now accumulative and not
based on terms. This means that
each student’s report card mark is based on all material completed since
September not just since the last report card. This is a better way to report our student’s marks and is
consistent with the practices that occur in Grade 7 to 12. This term our interviews will be
on Tuesday (23) and Thursday (25), from 5-8pm. EEP to Grade 6 families, please arrange your interview with
your child’s teacher. Parents of
Grade 7 or 8 students, please call Ms. Peddle in the front office to arrange an
interview time.
Our next regularly scheduled School Council meeting is March
9th in the staff room.
Please feel free to join us so that you can find out what is happening
at St. Gabriel School. Have a
great month and Happy St. Patrick’s Day!!
